The vacation blog returns, seriously delayed, but it is here nonetheless.
Day 4
We hop in a small van to Universal. Since there isn't enough people to garner a bus, the van will do for that morning.
Of course, I have to stop at Starbucks before heading into the park. Jonathan cracks me up here. (It was like a much welcomed freezer in there).
Universal at large.
Islands of Adventure from a distance. I miss Harry Potter World already.
The first ride of the day is Rip Ride Rock It. Sick sick sick.
You go straight up. Again, sick!
When you get off the ride, you can not only buy your picture but also a copy of your ride! You set which song you want to hear before the ride begins (and once you're in your seat). I picked Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger but ultimately ended up not buying the video, though it was hilarious watching Jonathan & I scream our heads off.
Monster Cafe. We didn't dine here but Wilfredo tells us next time we should check this place out.
Once we saw this guy, we knew we had to get a photo with him.
The Mummy, btw, is one of my favorite rides at Universal. Did you know? The Mummy used to be the popular King Kong attraction and you can still see Kong right before the ride ends (if you're paying attention, that is).
Fierce.
I make for an awkward Cleopatra!
Well...what did you expect LOL
The Simpsons Ride at a distance.
Love the entrance.
Very cool interior/waiting area.
We got lucky this year; the line was practically empty. Last year there was quite a wait.
It's definitely one of my favorites. If you're ever been on Back to the Future (the ride The Simpsons replaced) it's just like that.
Random Duff "beer" (actually, an energy drink) found in a drink bin.
Haha, darn straight.
For lunch, we decided to do Finnegan's Bar & Grill.
Some of the best Irish soda bread I've ever had in my life. A thumbs up all around.
I snuck a shot over to the other side of the restaurant. At first glance, I thought they were looking my way but in reality, the TVs showing the FIFA World Cup were playing behind me.
MIB's format is one of my favorites. It's like Toy Story Midway Mania in the sense that it's a game where you shoot at something and rack up points.
That's one way to cool off.
Of course, we had to stop for a photo with Homer.
This guy is getting strangled by Homer, LOL.
ET.
JD phone home?
Beautiful skies on a hot hot day.
Definitely have to try this place on one of our next visits.
Marilyn makes an appearance.
And Lucy (sans Ricky) too.
Haha. Once again, he passes out on the ride home :-P
Once we get back, we have to dress for dinner that night. I happily sport my new Gryffindor shirt from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
In order to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge, another Disney hotel, we have to catch a bus there from a park, so we choose Hollywood Studios. They have neat soda machines that have been there for the past 10 years (this fact brought to you by Wilfredo LOL)
We have arrived at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Already, the atmosphere feels safari like.
Beautiful lodge.
Jambo.
Loving the decor when we first walked in.
We waited outside for our table to be ready and caught the gorgeous sky as the sun set.
Ostrich! With a zebra in the background.
Bar portion of the restaurant. I so so wanted to try one of the special cocktails but couldn't because of the antibiotics I was on the duration of the trip. Big fat BOO.
Hidden Mickey!
Their dessert sampler was out of this world. The chai pudding was my favorite. The main course was beyond amazing as well. I had the tandoori chicken and Jonathan had the ribs. Easily the standout meal of the trip. That's saying a lot too, because the food in Disney World is top notch.
After dinner we went upstairs to see what it looks like by the rooms. Of course, we couldn't look inside the rooms but we did get to check out the hallway.
After we returned to the hotel, we promptly passed out. As thrilling & fun as the days are, by the end you just want to fall asleep LOL.
